In-the-ear hearing aid
This is the largest of the hearing aids that go directly in the ear.  It can accommodate a larger battery than the other products and may have a larger volume wheel.  This model is most appropriate for people with dexterity or vision problems.  In-the-ear hearing aids are appropriate for people with mild to severe hearing loss.

Easy to operate   You may be surprised how simple your EarMate Digital Hearing Aid  is to operate. It features a convenient pull-out knob which makes inserting and removing your hearing aid easy even for people with large fingers. In addition, the pull-out knob gives you quick access to the battery compartment.

Pre-Set volume control   You can find your preferred volume setting and lock it into place. Once set, you won't have to worry about adjusting the volume on your hearing aid each time you use it or while you're wearing it. By keeping the volume of your new hearing aid at a set level, you will adapt quickly to the new sounds heard with the help of your EarMate Digital Hearing Aid.

Discreetly fits in your ear canal   After studying the shapes and sizes of thousands of ear canals, engineers created the EarMate Digital Hearing Aid's unique design. Measuring only seven-eights of an inch, this hearing aid fits comfortably into your ear canal.

Patented earpiece system   You will receive your EarMate Digital Hearing Aid complete with three sizes of flexible earpieces. The earpieces fit snugly over the end of your hearing aid. You select the size giving you the most comfortable fit. The earpiece system also provides you with an unique earwax protection system. The sound outlets in each earpiece are located behind a flexible barrier that helps stop earwax from clogging your EarMate Digital Hearing Aid. Replacing the earpiece is an easy way to keep your hearing aid in good operating condition.

Reliable, effective performance   The EarMate Digital Hearing Aid is a genuine medical device, a true hearing instrument made with the same quality components of hearing aids costing hundreds of dollars more. The performance of the EarMate Digital Hearing Aid starts with a high-quality microphone. The microphone picks up sounds within the common frequency range of speech(200 Hz to 6000 Hz). These sounds are then processed by a computer chip (amplifier) which selectively adds up to 22 dB of volume, depending on the frequency. The amplified sounds then enter your ear through the speaker (receiver).

    Behind-the-ear hearing aid
    Behind-the-ear hearing aids consist of 2 pieces.  A plastic ear tip that is relatively inexpensive and is custom made to fit into the ear.  The ear mold is connected via a piece of tubing to the hearing aid, which hangs behind the ear.  Most behind the hearing aids have a volume control, a battery compartment and an on/off switch.  A behind-the-ear hearing aid is appropriate for a person with mild to profound hearing loss.  An advantage to the behind-the-ear hearing aids is that they are less prone to damage by earwax since the mold that goes into the ear is just plastic and the actual hearing aid hangs behind the ear.  In addition, a behind-the-ear hearing aid is the only style appropriate for people with a profound hearing loss and for children.
